ABOUT US

Alex Parker (music) and Katie Lam (book and lyrics) are an award-winning British musical theatre writing team. Best friends since they were eight years old, Katie and Alex have written five musicals together: Am Dram (Leicester Curve), After You (London Coliseum), Henrietta (NYMT), The Railway Children (Cadogan Hall) and All Aboard (Electric). They have also presented cabaret shows of their songs in the UK and the US, most recently at Feinstein’s/54 Below in New York City and The Crazy Coqs in London.

Katie and Alex were recipients of the inaugural UK Emerging Writers Award from the National Youth Music Theatre (NYMT), and Artists in Residence at The Red House in Aldeburgh (both in 2019). They have been commissioned to write the opening number for the WhatsOnStage Awards five times, most recently in 2023. They took part in the Re:act scheme for new writers at what was then the St James Theatre.

KATIE LAM

Katie has worked in finance (as a Vice President at Goldman Sachs), technology (as Chief of Staff of AI company Faculty) and government (including at the Home Office and 10 Downing Street). She has worked as an advisor to various companies, both independently and as Chief Policy Adviser at Portland Communications. She is a governor at Frank Barnes School for Deaf Children and was a Trustee of the Ivors Academy Trust.

Katie read Classics at Trinity College, Cambridge.

ALEX PARKER

Alex works at the Really Useful Group and as a Musical Director and Producer.

Alex’s Musical Director Credits include My Fair Lady (UK tour), Gypsy (Alexandra Palace) and Sunset Boulevard (Royal Albert Hall). His work as an Assistant and Associate Musical Director includes West Side Story (BBC Proms) and Les Miserables (Queens and Dubai Opera).

Alex is the producer and founder of Quick Fantastic, and the founder and conductor of the Luminaire Orchestra.

Alex has a BMus in Music from Birmingham University.
